Dolomite Franchi is an almost century-old dolomite refractory products manufacturer based in Italy. They are part of the international Intocast Group with a presence all over the world. Their products are the result of many decades of experience and they are trusted by the steel industry to build high-quality furnaces and related products.

Dolomite Franchi implemented Translution™ Software with a fresh deployment of SYSPRO as their ERP system. Translution™ Software is used to receipt finished products on pallets by scanning A3-sized labels that are generated based on the production line the pallet originated from. By scanning the barcode label, Translution™ Software can issue the correct materials and post labor against the Job Receipt in SYSPRO.

Introduction

The biggest features of this release are both related to significant look and feel enhancements. EazyTouch has been rebuilt to have a much more modern and user friendly interface. At the same time, Android has been extended to include some new features. The final significant change has been the release of User Maintenance and Site Maintenance applications. This change allows TransLution and EazyQuery to share users. It also allows Site with multiple companies and TransLution databases to have shared users defined once only instead of defining them per company as in the past.

EazyTouch Enhancement

The entire EazyTouch user interface has been rebuilt. The new Logon Form is shown below and all the forms now have a similar look and feel.

In addition to the new look and feel it is also possible to assign images to function area buttons and workflow buttons as shown below.

TransLution is shipped with a set of 45 standard icons and custom icons can also be added to the system.

Android

The TransLution Android application has been extended to support most of the features supported by EazyScan. In future releases, this functionality will be extended to allow Android to support the same features as EazyTouch. Features added in V5.0 are:

  • Support for Multi-Company Logon
  • Progress Grid
  • Query Function
  • Buffered posts and retries
  • Yes/No messages on stored procedures

We have also added support for the General Grid and TL Selector to Android for use on tablet devices. With these overlays, we support server side VBP processing but not client side processing.

Site Maintenance

In order to allow users to belong to multiple companies we have moved the user definition outside of TransLution we have developed the option to maintain Sites with associated Companies where each Company can support multiple sites.

User Maintenance

Users can be added on the site maintenance form and given access to multiple sites. On the user maintenance form, it is now possible to give users permission to the required user groups.

Fixes and Enhancements:

We have various other changes to improve both the implementation and end user experience

  • TL Selector now allows modifiable columns to be specified by name and not position from the right.
  • It was previously possible to select to add a Subroutine to a workflow. This has been fixed.
  • A new field has been added to the Scanner Name Maintenance form allowing the scanner to be described
  • VBP is now supported on In Process Results Capture save and not only on the Test Method Results Capture form
  • There are 2 new configurator forms – one to upload images to the database and another to link images to function areas
  • The SSRS Report Server can be maintained from within Configurator and doesn’t require access to the database for maintenance any longer
  • Previously if EazyTouch could not find the server it would not start up. You can now start EazyTouch and defined the server from the configuration form on the application.
  • Fixed the issue where if a post from table resulted in a blank XML file, the post was attempted which would result in an error
  • You can now choose the suffix of file create steps so a CSV file can be saved with a .TXT extension if required with that extension by a third party application

 

As many of you may now know, TransLution™ Software is now available on Android devices. Our future development plans for the TransLution™ Android application are focussed around extending the application to include the same kinds of grids and features you can find in our current EazyTouch product.

What you may not know is we have also been hard at work updating the TransLution™ EazyTouch user interface. This project is near completion, and we aim to have our new design launched within the next few weeks. In the meantime, here is a sneak peak at some of the features and grids that we will be unveiling in our next release.

G.Fox, a premier supplier of  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), cleaning chemicals, paper products, and industrial consumable supplies, has implemented TransLution™ Software to check the organisation’s physical stock against the SYSPRO inventory picture.

In this initial implementation, the G.Fox user scans a barcode which is stored in a custom field in SYSPRO and uses that information to retrieve the Stock Code. TransLution™ then responds by showing the Stock Code on the screen. This code is also found on the item label, allowing the user to alert a supervisor if there is a mismatch. If the inventory item has not been received into SYSPRO, the user is able to see that from the error that is displayed.

TransLution™ Software USA has been working with American Printing House for the Blind (APH) to implement a scanning system that integrated with the organization’s existing SYSPRO system. The American Printing House for the Blind (APH) was founded in Louisville to develop and produce educational materials and provide services for people who are blind and visually impaired.

While APH has been running SYSPRO for a number of years, their decision to implement a scanning system was based on the need to increase stock accuracy and update SYSPRO in real time.

Users print stock labels displaying the stock code, description and a unique barcode. Upon receiving stock, the labels are applied and scanned to transfer stock into a location and create a goods received note. The stock labels are also scanned to replenish bin locations by transferring stock from one location to another.

MONN Carpets, a leading manufacturer of premium-quality carpets, uses TransLution™ as an inventory management tool. Users print stock labels displaying the stock code, description, lot number, receiving order, and a unique barcode.

Upon receiving stock, the labels are applied and scanned to transfer stock into a location. These labels are also scanned to transfer stock from one location to another and when dispatching stock. All stock movements are tracked and logged and the quantities of the stock in the different bin locations are updated.

At Consupaq, one of Astrapak’s Durban facilities, TransLution Software prints job labels based on the job data in SYSPRO – there are as many labels printed as required by the job and no more. Each label is uniquely identified with a serial number. The labels are scanned at the end of production to post a job receipt. The system ensures that no label is scanned twice.

Thermopac, based in Cape Town, uses TransLution™ exclusively for label printing while Pak2000, based in Pinetown, utilises the system to print job labels that can be scanned to process job issues and receipts in SYSPRO.
