Berry | Astrapak, a specialised manufacturer of an extensive range of rigid moulded, and thermoformed plastic packaging products serving the African market, is using TransLution at eight of their sites across South Africa. Plastform, the division providing the market with a wide range of thermoformed and moulded packaging, is the latest site to go live with TransLution™.

During this project, TransLution was implemented at Plastform to facilitate the movement and management of stock. The goal was to implement a scanning solution which would assist users to track stock while enforcing consistent and reliable warehouse practices.

TransLution is used to print unique labels for the boxes manufactured on a job.  A scanner function is then used to build pallets for the boxes manufactured and post the material issues and job receipt to SYSPRO.

There are also functions to move stock between bins within a single warehouse and between warehouses using the Syspro Goods in Transit (GIT) functionality. As goods are scanned for transfer, the information is sent to SYSPRO and a GIT reference is printed. When the goods are received, the user simply scans the GIT reference and the target bin, and all the goods are taken out of transit in SYSPRO and moved to the correct target bin.

The Extrusion process is also tracked by TransLution. Product produced during the extrusion process is lot traceable which also tracks the Lot Number. TransLution is used to job receipt extrusion jobs and print labels for the lot numbers generated in SYSPRO.

Additionally, TransLution has provided a scanner function to issue lots to the job, and another to return unused lot quantities from the job. The job number determines which lot numbers can be returned and, in this case, a negative issue will be posted to SYSPRO and the updated lot label will be printed.

A TransLution Dispatch Application uses a scanner function for picking sales orders and, once confirmed, the dispatch note is created in SYSPRO and printed.

A complete set of Stock Take functionality available within TransLution™ enables Plastform to increase inventory management efficiencies, with Live posting to SYSPRO while the user is scanning.

Plastform can now rest assured that they comply with the consistent and reliable warehouse practices Berry Astrapak expects from all its divisions.
