Cecil Vinegar has been manufacturing naturally fermented vinegar for the South African market since 1936.  All of Cecil Vinegar’s vinegars are produced from natural ingredients using the latest submerge fermentation technology.

In a drive to improve efficiency and profitability, Cecil Vinegar needed a scanning system to manage and streamline the end-to-end warehouse and manufacturing processes. The focus was to improve stock accuracy, reduce picking times, and minimise errors in the warehouse, resulting in a more accurate stock picture and better customer service due to greater efficiency. The aim was for the solution to be aligned with both the Alrode and Strand Warehouses.

TransLution Software was the logical choice for offering a flexible solution to address all Cecil Vinegars needs and provide room for growth with the business.  Cecil Vinegar is part of the Libstar Group and is one of the many group companies using TransLution

The first phase of the project focused on manufacturing which includes producing filtered vinegar as well as tracking the filling processes using SYSPRO Jobs.

The production of filtered vinegar that is decanted from acetators is recorded on the shop floor. Users are able to view this data on a grid where they can validate or correct quantities if required. Users can then post the confirmed information to SYSPRO to issue raw materials to the job, post labour and post a Job Receipt.

Filling of bottles and packing onto pallets is also managed using Syspro jobs. TransLution prints Pallet labels based on the quantity required on the job in Syspro and as pallets are packed, these labels are scanned and a Job Receipt is posted to Syspro.

TransLution also provided functions to deal with consolidating or splitting pallets while still maintaining traceability back to the original Syspro Job.

Cecil Vinegar are very pleased to note that not only has TransLution Software simplified their production process, but its flexibility has given them a real competitive advantage in their industry.

Phase Two of the project is planned to include a range of warehousing functions.
