New Concept Mining, an international supplier of underground mine support technology, is a long-time user of TransLution Software. The company recently extended its usage of TransLution to use the offline scanning functionality to manage their service exchange program.

The process begins with pre-printing serialised labels that can be applied to pumps being returned for repairs. The user collecting the pumps from the remote shafts applies a pre-printed label to a pump and uses the TransLution Offline processing functionality to capture relevant data about the pump, such as the mine and shaft it is being collected from. By using the offline features supported by TransLution there is no requirement for connectivity at each shaft.

Once all the pumps have been collected and returned, the offline data is uploaded to TransLution, and the storeman scans the label that was applied to the pump, captures the serial number, and creates a SYSPRO job for the repair. The pump is then inspected by the supervisor to see if it can be repaired. TransLution allows for images of the pump to be captured at this point so that there is an electronic record of any visible damage. The supervisor then assigns the repair to an operator.

While stripping the pump and doing the repair, TransLution is used to scan items to do specific issues to the repair job. The repaired pump is tested by QC and once QC is passed the pump is ready for delivery back to the mine. The pump label is scanned at the mine to confirm delivery and the Receiver uses the on-screen signing facility offered by TransLution to sign and accept the delivery.
