Safe-Way Door is a leading manufacturer and distributor of residential, commercial, and industrial overhead garage doors. Headquartered in Warsaw, Indiana, Safe-Way Door also operates facilities in Tennessee and Missouri with distribution throughout North America.

Safe-Way Door was looking for a solution to automate the Purchase Order Receiving process that would update the SYSPRO ERP automatically. They elected to implement TransLution Software using barcode scanners and printers to eliminate the current manual receiving process at their Warsaw manufacturing plant. TransLution Software was introduced in a 2-phase approach, with the first phase being completed on time and on budget and the second phase beginning immediately after completion of the first.

Phase 1 comprised Receiving, Labelling and Stock Take. All raw material and brought-in items are labeled using TransLution barcode scanners or tablets, saving time by printing labels directly from TransLution. All receipted goods are then approved and a goods received note (GRN) can be posted to SYSPRO. The implementation of this process provided Safeway Garage Doors with an immediate overview of the inventoried items.

With TransLution they can label stock, receive purchase orders, and take inventory using TransLution on scanners for counting with real-time update to their SYSPRO Stock Take. This not only saves time, but significantly improves the accuracy of the stock data.

Phase 2 will include Manufacturing and the use of bins for inventory storage. Work on this phase is already underway.

The company originated in Ohio during the 1950’s and moved to Warsaw, Indiana in the early 1960’s. Its 65,000 square foot Warsaw facility was built in 1983 and in 1986 expanded its product line to include industrial steel doors. The company continued to expand the following year with the opening of its first distribution center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee near Nashville. Expansion continued throughout the 1990’s with additional manufacturing capabilities and product lines.
