UCL enhance inventory tracking, quality control, and dispatch operations with TransLution Software

UCL, a diversified agri-processor and sugar producer based in Dalton, KwaZulu-Natal, has successfully implemented TransLution Software at their Sugar Packing Plant (SPP) and Sugar Repacking Plant (SRP). The primary objective of this implementation was to enhance inventory tracking, quality control, and dispatch operations ahead of the 2026 sugar harvest season. The project focused on improving key processes such as inventory receipting and palletising, hourly quality control data capture, and dispatch and compliance control.

TransLution Software was integrated to support several critical functions. Automated inventory receipting was implemented to receipt bulk bags and pallets at SPP and SRP under unique QR-coded labels, enforcing multi-trip bag reuse limits along the way. Additionally, hourly QC data capture was introduced to record batch-level quality results, such as POL, colour, and moisture, and to automatically classify stock as saleable, concession, or unsaleable, triggering the correct warehouse movement. The system also includes dispatch validation, which checks truck registration numbers and loading mass against sales orders and automatically generates Dispatch Notes, Invoices, and Certificates of Analysis.

This implementation aims to boost operational efficiency, reduce data entry errors, and accelerate the release of stock from quality control to saleable inventory. UCL anticipates that these improvements will lead to stronger dispatch compliance, reduced administrative workload, and improved traceability and customer confidence.

UCL and TransLution are already planning a Phase 2, which is expected to include weighbridge integration and raw materials warehouse management.
