Mopani mine is rolling out TransLution through all their warehouses at both their Mufulira and Nkana mines. TransLution is used to scan all product movement into and out of all the stores warehouses and post transaction updates to Syspro in real time. Another project will implement scanning in the underground stores. Under these conditions, it is not possible to post transactions to Syspro in real time so the system will be implemented using our posting service to log all the transactions as they occur but then to post them only when communication to Syspro is established.

Mopani Copper Mines PLC is a Zambian registered company owned by Carlisa Investments Corporation (a joint venture company comprising Glencore International AG, First Quantum Minerals Ltd and ZCCM-IH). Minority shareholders are spread throughout the world in various locations.
Mopani Mines produces and sells copper and cobalt to the international market being one of the biggest mines and exporters in the world. The Company has mine sites at Mufulira and Nkana, which are located on the Copperbelt in Zambia. The Corporate Head Office is established in Kitwe and lies adjacent to the Nkana mine. Nkana has been in operation since 1931 and Mufulira, which has been in operation since 1933 lies 50 kilometres north of Kitwe.
The Company operates the Mufulira mine, smelter, concentrator and copper refinery and the Nkana mine, concentrator and cobalt plant. The name “Mopani” was chosen by vote amongst employees. The Mopani tree is an indigenous Zambian hard wood with a long life and is extremely resilient.

Mopani originally chose AfriSoft and TransLution for this project because of their expertise in a number of other implementations in mines in the DRC. This experience has given us an understanding of not only the use of scanning software in mine stores and other warehouses but also of working in both the DRC and Zambia. Due to successful earlier implementations, we are now extending our footprint at Mopani the latest project will be the third phase of the extensive Mopani implementation.
