Silverton Engineering utilises TransLution™ to improve supply chain integration

Silverton Engineering is one of the largest heat exchange manufacturer in South Africa, producing radiators, power transformer oil coolers, transmission oil coolers, and mining and agriculture products.

In the automotive industry in South Africa there is a high level of supply chain integration in. For this reason, Silverton Engineering chose to work with Afrisoft to implement TransLution™, improving its integration with suppliers and customers’ systems.

Silverton Engineering’s suppliers create an Advanced Shipping Notice (ASN) against purchase orders that act as a Goods Received Note (GRN) normally would. When a shipment arrives, TransLution is used to scan the Advanced Shipping Notice accompanying the shipment. The goods on the document are then transferred from the GRN warehouse to a holding warehouse for production. TransLution is also used to do label printing on receipt of a shipment, as well to print the finished goods labels at the end of production to label the storage bins that hold the finished goods.

At the end of production, in addition to label printing, TransLution is used to do a job receipt and to post a kit issue to consume raw materials against the correct job. An additional Ford-specific shipment label is printed, via a separate custom DCI Pick Slip System used by Silverton, for the finished goods produced. The shipment label is then scanned via TransLution™ to update the DCI Pick Slip System. On the first scan of a new pick slip, the status is updated to ‘picked’ in the DCI system. Once all the items for that pick slip have been picked, the status is updated to ‘Finished’. At this point both Silverton and Ford are made aware that the shipment is packed and ready, and therefore when they can expect to receive it.

In addition to the unique benefit of integration into two different systems, the system created by Afrisoft also offers automated integration of production data with SYSPRO. Where previously the ERP integration was not done frequently or accurately, automating the process has resulted in highly accurate stock pictures.
