Supreme Poultry is the third largest poultry producer in South Africa and a supplier to key quick service restaurant chains, including KFC, Nando’s and Famous Brands. With such a high throughput, they chose to implement TransLution™ Software Load Planning to assist with planning loads and loading trucks.

Supreme Poultry has been using TransLution™ Software successfully for a number of years to manage the finished goods packing process on each site. It is for this reason they elected to expand their use of TransLution™ into Load Planning.

Supreme Poultry’s load planning is done centrally for the sites in Mafikeng, Botshabelo,

Tigane, and Viljoenskroon. Users build loads by selecting the site they are working with then selecting a Transporter and specifying a truck size for the load.

They are then presented with a list of sales orders that are ready to dispatch. These can be filtered by customer, delivery date and several other fields. From here, the user selects the sales orders for the load and the load is built in TransLution™. Load Planner confirms the load size both in terms of mass and number of pallets to ensure that it will fit onto the truck that was selected for the load.

The user can choose to remove lines from the load if required. It is also possible to remove part of a line from a load and to move pallets around within the load to match the planned drop-sequence.

Once the user is happy with both the contents of the load and the loading sequence, they can confirm the load and print a load sheet.

It is possible to complete loads after delivery from within Load Planner. However, in this case since the loads are delivered from individual sites each site confirms the load delivery locally and this information is used to update Load Planner to mark loads as completed.
