Halewood Wines & Spirits is one of South Africa’s fastest growing manufacturers of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Halewood have bins in their warehouse that do not exist in SYSPRO, instead using TransLution™ to keep track of stock.

There is a grid available that allows the users to define bin codes, descriptions, and the maximum pallet quantity per bin. Stock arrives labelled with an expiry date and stock is tracked by date. All stock in each bin must have an expiry date within a 20-day window. So even if different expiry dates are stored in a single bin the dates range is kept small. Also bins store one product only and mixed bins are not allowed.

Both a Cycle count and Stock Take process are supported, and users have a grid view of all pallets available to help them decide what to count.

The sales order picking process is an interesting one. Several sales orders are invoiced and TransLution™ is then used to drive picking for those orders. TransLution™ suggests both a bin and a quantity to pick. If a single item needs to be picked from multiple bins TransLution™ will direct the user to each bin in turn. Full pallets are picked from the bulk storage area and part pallets are picked from the pick face. TransLution™ also manages the process of replenishing the pick face.

Once a sales order is fully picked TransLution™ manages the truck loading process as well. All items need to be scanned onto the truck to ensure that everything that was picked was loaded onto the truck. The user then scans the barcode on the load sheet, the licence disk on the vehicle, the driver’s licence and enters the driver name and ID number. The driver then signs to confirm this information. In addition, photos can be taken of the load and truck – up to 10 images are supported. Before leaving the site, the load sheet is printed. It includes a summary of all invoices on the load, the driver information and signature and whatever photos were taken during loading.
