Rheem SA, South Africa’s largest 100% black owned industrial packaging manufacturer, has gone live with TransLution™ Software at their Vanderbijlpark facility. This site specializes in the de-coiling and cutting of steel coils.

During receiving, TransLution™ is used to print unique labels in order to track the coils. These labels are applied to coils as they arrive on site and the receipt is posted to SYSPRO to create a Goods Received Note. The coil number is also posted to SYSPRO for tracking purposes.

These coils are then issued to a Syspro job where they are cut into sheets. TransLution™ is used to print labels for bundles of sheets and at the end of production a job receipt is posted to SYSPRO. This post includes the bundle number so that this information is available in SYSPRO, allowing Rheem to determine which coil was used to manufacture a specific bundle.

Some sheets need to be coated, so in addition to the process above, there is job for the coating process. This is again done with a full job issue and receipt process with bundle numbers being tracked.

Sheets are scanned for dispatch and to a truck, after which TransLution™ uses this information to ship the lines in SYPSRO and create dispatch note. The dispatch note contains bundle number as well as data about the number of sheets in the bundle and the bundle mass. As trucks leave site, the dispatch note is checked to validate what is on the truck – information about the number of sheets in the bundle is critical to ensure accurate shipping.

Rheem also has a stock-take process that allows users to count both coils and bundles. Using TransLution™ to complete a stock-take every month-end has resulted in almost no variances and allows Rheem to complete a stock-take in half a day.
